National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics

NCSM
PO Box 3406
Englewood CO 80155-3406

The National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics is an organization for leaders in mathematics education, pre-K through adult, in the United States and Canada. Its purpose is to support mathematics education leadership at the school, district, college/university, state or province, and national levels through a cadre of well-trained, broadly informed, and perceptive leaders of mathematics education at all levels. NCSM believes that these leaders must be empowered and held accountable for overseeing and facilitating the implementation of substantive reform of school mathematics for all students.

The approximately 2,500 members of NCSM constitute a worldwide force of school, district, and state or province mathematics coordinators, supervisors, department chairs, and resource personnel as well as mathematics education faculty at colleges and universities, and mathematics editorial personnel from publishing companies.

NCMS has established a broad agenda of activities which include:
bulletTo promote the importance of designated mathematics leadership at all levels.
bulletTo provide ongoing experiences, information, and support to enable mathematics educators to assume leadership roles.
bulletTo collaborate with leaders in business and industry.
bulletTo establish and maintain a communications network among mathematics leaders.

The Council was founded in 1969 and its annual meetings are held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
